The Husk Mill is committed to running a sustainable business.

With two billion metric tonnes of food waste to tackle every year and a carbon footprint that represents a quarter of all greenhouse gas emmissions , we believe that with more food businesses committing to sustainable practises there is cause for optimism. By using what was traditionally considered a by product, The Husk Mill has found a way to not waste any part of the cacao bean.

We choose to work with likeminded farmers, suppliers and contractors in order to minimize our carbon footprint. Our husks are sourced locally where possible,  and are grown here in Australia. We also source some of our husks from the Western slopes of the Andes in Peru. We have partnered with a farm that has an ongoing commitment to achieving sustainable developments by helping to increase the life quality of all individuals in their supply chain. They are engaged in practises that aim to improve the health and welfare of the native Andean communities they work with.

Our single origin, 70% dark chocolate bar with Murray River salt is grown in Mission Beach, Queensland and is made onsite using a traditional small batch method, minimizing its environmental impact.

The Husk Mill has also chosen to partner with Australia’s first carbon neutral, Sendle. Sendle has partnered with South Pole Group to offset the emissions of every parcel that is picked up and delivered with Sendle. Each year, Sendle's community of business owners have been given the opportunity to direct their impact by choosing the projects that offset Sendle's carbon emissions. All of the Husk Mill’s teas and carefully hand blended and we use glass jars that can be used over and over again.
